Android's keyboard warning: does Yazsın collect what I type?
In shortNo. Android shows this warning for every keyboard you add. Yazsın sends what you say when you tap the Speak button, and it doesn't send what you type with the keys anywhere on its own.
Why does this warning appear?
Android shows this warning for every keyboard you add to your phone.
It describes what a keyboard could do, not what Yazsın does.
It mentions passwords and card numbers too. The exact words can differ a little from phone to phone.
What does Yazsın actually do?
- When you tap the Speak button, it sends what you say so it can be turned into text.
- With it, it sends the name of the app you're typing in, so the text suits that app.
- It doesn't send the letters you type with the keys anywhere on its own.
- The one exception: if you fix a word Yazsın just wrote, it sends the text and your fix so it can learn that word. To learn, it keeps only the words that changed.
- In password boxes, the Speak button turns off. It says
Off for passwords
. - Once the text is back, it deletes the recording from the phone. If sending fails, it keeps the recording in memory for at most one minute so you can try again.
When you turn on the keyboard
- In the Yazsın app, tap Turn on the keyboard.
- In the list that opens, turn on the switch next to Yazsın.
- When the warning shows, tap OK.
- Go back to the Yazsın app and go on to the next step.
The Why does this warning appear? line in the Yazsın app says the same thing. It's in Android 0.3.1 and later.
