What do “Didn't catch that” and “No sound” mean?
In short“Didn't catch that” means the recording was too short or too quiet. “No sound” means the microphone picked up nothing at all, usually because another app is using it.
Where do these messages show?
On the Speak button, or just above it, for a few seconds.
Didn't catch that
The recording was too short, or your voice came through too quietly. This message can show on Android, iPhone and Mac.
On iPhone it reads I didn't hear anything. Please try again.
- Tap the Speak button.
- Hold the phone a little closer and talk in your normal voice.
- When you've said it all, wait a second, then finish. On Android, tap the button again (it now says Done). On iPhone, tap the ✓. On Mac, let go of the key.
No sound
On Android the whole message reads No sound. Another app may be using the microphone.
The microphone picked up no sound at all. Usually another app is using the microphone right then.
For example, a phone call in progress, a voice message being recorded, or another app's microphone button.
A recording like this isn't sent anywhere.
- End the call or the voice message.
- Turn off the other app's microphone.
- Tap the Speak button in Yazsın again.
This message shows on Android 0.2.2 and later.
Tap the box you want to type in first
No text box was selected, so Yazsın didn't know where to put the text. When this happens, nothing is recorded.
- Tap the box you want to type in. For example, the message box at the bottom of WhatsApp.
- Then tap the Speak button.
This message shows on Android 0.2.2 and later.
That didn't work. Check your internet and try again.
What you said couldn't be turned into text. Usually the internet connection is the cause. On Android the message says “internet connection”.
- Check that Wi-Fi or mobile data is on.
- Try again.
On Android, the Speak button then says Try again
. Tap it and the same recording is sent again, so you don't have to say it again.
Try again is in Android 0.3.1 and later. The recording waits in the phone's memory for at most one minute, then it's deleted.
Yazsın stopped. Press again.
This message shows on iPhone. It means the keyboard couldn't get sound from the Yazsın app waiting in the background.
- Tap the Speak button again.
- If Yazsın opens once, go back to the app you were typing in and talk.
